“Marriage is not a noun; it’s a verb. It isn’t something you get. It’s something you do…”
― Barbara De Angelis
According to Merriam Webster to ‘marry’ is “to unite in close and usually permanent relation”. Marriage is the perfect depiction of the relationship between man and nature in that it is permanent. We are permanently bound to nature from the moment we are released through birth into her world. From that moment Nature just continues to register a heavy presence in our day to day lives. There are many ways Mother Nature has expressed her love for humanity. Poets have taken pen to paper to parade it, as have singers sung about it. In the same spirit of actioning this love. Here are a few ways we can honour our bond to Mother Nature;
Spend Time Outdoors
Nothing says ‘I love you’ more than time shared and spent together. Setting aside time to spend in the company of Mother Nature and her beauty will give you a deeper appreciation for her and for the role she plays in your life. Some outdoor activities make for great group/family activities such as hiking or biking with friends, bird watching or park walks and picnics. This way, you share in your appreciation of Mother Nature’s beauty.
Plant Something
If green fingers run in the family then you can give back to Mother Nature in a practical and most self-fulfilling way, planting. Whether it is a tree your grandchildren will build their treehouse on or a rose garden to enchant your guests, no investment in Mother Nature is lost.
There are many ways to show you appreciate Mother Nature, we have merely just scratched the surface. The most important of these being the willingness to put effort into showing appreciation for nature and getting started by putting into action what we know to be the right way to show Mother Nature affection.
