BACKGROUND HISTORY Delta Distribution was formed in April 1985, as a result of merging the Transport interest of United Bottlers (Sparkling Beverages), National Breweries (Lagers Manufactures) and Chibuku Breweries (Sorghum Manufacturers), under one roof. The purpose of this merger was to rationalize the expertise required to run a Heavy Motor Vehicle Fleet, and to show increased levels of operating efficiency and vehicle synergy. At the time of the merger, only Chibuku Breweries (Sorghum Manufacturing) had a fully operational Driver Training School, following a recognized course of ICONO Train from South Africa. United Bottlers (Sparkling Beverages) were running with a driver recruitment and development program, whilst National Breweries (Lagers Manufacturing) were contracting their fleet requirements from Bulwark Transport. Thus in 1985, the Delta Distribution (Transport Services) Driver Training and Development Centre was formed.
